How to build a story

PreviousStoriesNextAnalytics

Last updated 3 years ago

DPub provides a very simple editor for adding to stories, changing stories, and rearranging stories. Stories are made up of story blocks. Any DPub story can have multiple story blocks including:

  • Text

  • Headlines

  • Images

  • Videos

  • NFTs

Building your story

To add a story block to a story, click on the bottom menu.

The components are listed left to right. Headline, Text, Image, Video, NFT

To add a block to your story, simply click the icon. It will add that type of block to the end of your story. Simply scroll down and edit.

How to add bullets, numbered lists and general text formatting

When you add a Text Story Block, you can open up the visual editor. To open the visual editor, move your mouse over the text block, and a link will appear under the story block "Visual Editor".

This will open a popup that you can underline, bold, bullets, numbered lists, links, etc through the toolbar at the top.

How to change the order of a story block or delete a story block?

By moving your mouse over a block, you will see a blue menu appear below the story block. That menu enables you to move a block up or down, or delete a block.

Click the up arrow to move a block up one spot.

Click the down arrow to move a block down one spot.

Click the X button to delete a block.

To add another block, just click the toolbar at the bottom of the screen and select the type of block you want to add (headline, text, image, video, or NFT).

Adding an NFT to a story

To add an NFT to any story, click the token (T with stars) icon on the bottom toolbar to add a Token Story Block.

You will be presented with a list of the NFTs that you have created in DPub. They must be "Created Token" with a token id to show up in the list.

Find the NFT that you would like to show, and click "Add NFT"

Your NFT will show up directly in your story. It will look something like this

In the above example, you can see the use of text, then an inline NFT, then an image to tell your story.

Previewing your Story

To see what your story will look like, you can click the "Preview Story" link located at the bottom of the story anytime. Clicking this link will open up a new tab, and will update in real time as you make edits.

Publish your Story

When your story looks great is ready to be published to the world, scroll down to the very bottom of the story and click the Orange Box that says "Looking Good? Publish Your NFT Story".

On the next page, click the agree check box for the terms and click Publish.

To go back and edit your story, click the "Edit Story" button.

After clicking Publish, you will be taken to the published story, and your story will be live on your home page.

Editing after Publishing

For the moment, stories can be edited after publishing by going to Stories | Published on your Dashboard.

In the near future, DPub will be tokenizing the stories themselves on the blockchain. These tokens can be kept by you, sold with the NFT, or even sold by themselves.

By tokenizing, we also assure that promises that we make in our stories can be transparent for all of our buyers.
